The Nation -- On the day of President Obama's healthcare summit, I took a break from the political hubbub and saw a new documentary about the day of his election, 11/4/08.

The Nation -- First, the former Saturday Night Live presidents threw their support behind financial regulation. Now an even more unlikely reformer, reality TV star Heidi Montag, is teaming up with director Ron Howard and Americans for Financial Reform in an amusing new video pressing for the creation of a new agency to protect consumers. After all, "a consumer agency will stop the banks and credit card companies from being such sleazy jerks."

The Nation -- Doris "Granny D" Haddock, whose 3,200-mile walk across the United States at the age of 90 drew thousands of activists into the movement for political reform, has died at the age of 100.

The Nation -- There were grumblings from all corners of the AFL-CIO at its winter meeting in Orlando recently. "Disappointment", "disillusionment", "unengaged", these words and worse peppered press reports describing labor's view of President Obama and the Democrats.

The Nation -- Long before Barack Obama or Nancy Pelosi began talking up health care reform as a top priority for the Democratic Party, Congress and America, Dennis Kucinich was doing so. Indeed, the former Cleveland mayor, Ohio legislator, two-time presidential candidate and now senior U.S. House members has across the past 35 years been one of the country's steadiest proponents of real reform of our broken health-care system.

The Nation -- After 18 months of screaming headlines and attacks vilifying the anti-poverty group ACORN--attacks reminiscent of a New McCarthyism that threatened the group's very existence--it's clear now that this was a right-wing witch-hunt which, sadly, too many Democrats and the mainstream media failed to fact-check.

The Nation -- The Nation has moved quickly to embrace emerging platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

The Nation -- My new "Think Again" column about the proliferation of right-wing politicians being hired by network news and cable news networks to beat up on liberals, who when hired, also tend to beat up on liberals. It's occasioned by Bush adviser's Matthew Dowd turn as the host of ABC's "This Week" and it's here .

The Nation -- This is what must make it hard for people working inside the Obama administration. No sooner does the White House start talking up something good, then it does something bad.

The Nation -- Just like love and marriage, Iran and Iraq go together. As much as the Obama administration might like to, there's no having an "Iraq policy" without having a closely related "Iran policy." As the song says, you can't have one without the other.
